Raising a Happy, Healthy Kitten — For All Four Breeds
Whether you're bringing home a Persian, Maine Coon, Ragdoll, or Bengal, the core principles of kitten care are the same — but the details matter. Longhair Persians, Maine Coons, and Ragdolls need daily brushing and mat prevention; flat-faced Persians and Exotics need daily eye cleaning; high-energy Bengals need interactive play and mental enrichment. Our guides cover litter habits, grooming, nail care, settling in, and early socialization for all our kittens. Start here and give your new companion the best possible foundation.
How We Prepare Every Kitten
Before your kitten comes home, we give them a careful, hands-on start at Kittens For Home. From their first days of life through the time they leave us, each kitten — no matter the breed — receives daily attention designed to build confidence and a love of gentle human handling.
Daily Handling
Each kitten is gently held and stroked multiple times a day from birth, building a calm acceptance of human touch that lasts their entire life — whether it's a calm Persian or an active Bengal.
Early Grooming Exposure
We introduce soft brushes and gentle combing while kittens are still nursing. For longhair breeds (Persian, Maine Coon, Ragdoll), daily brushing becomes second nature. Bengals receive coat and nail handling from the very start as well.
Face & Eye Cleaning
The flat-faced structure of Persians and Exotics requires regular eye discharge cleaning. We start this routine early so kittens accept it as a normal, calm part of their day.
Litter Box Introduction
Kittens are introduced to a clean, low-sided litter box as soon as they begin exploring. By the time they leave us, every kitten across all four breeds is reliably litter-trained.
Socialization
Our kittens are raised underfoot in a home environment, meeting adults, children, and gentle household sounds — building the trusting, sociable temperament our four breeds are celebrated for.
What You Receive With Every Kitten
- CFA registration papers (TICA for Bengal)
- Vet health certificate
- Age-appropriate vaccinations & deworming
- Written health guarantee
Key Habits for Every Kittens For Home Breed
These are the core care routines that apply to all four breeds we raise. Some habits vary in intensity by breed — noted below — but all are essential. Build these habits in your first weeks together and they become second nature for both of you.
Daily Coat Brushing
Longhair Persians, Maine Coons, and Ragdolls need a gentle brush every day; Persians benefit from weekly brushing; Bengals are low-maintenance with a short, sleek coat
Eye Cleaning (Persian & Exotic)
Wipe gently with a damp cloth each morning to remove overnight discharge from the flat face of Persians and Persians
Litter Box Hygiene
Scoop once or twice daily for all breeds — cats are fastidious and may avoid a dirty box regardless of breed
Nail Trimming
Trim every 2–3 weeks starting from the first week home — applies to all four breeds to build a calm, lifelong routine
Indoor Environment & Enrichment
All our breeds are indoor companions. Bengals need climbing spaces and interactive toys; Persians and Ragdolls appreciate calm, quiet surroundings
Scratching Post
Provide a sturdy scratching post from day one to protect furniture and support healthy claws across all breeds
Gentle Handling Practice
Handle paws, ears, and face regularly so vet visits and grooming stay stress-free for life — for every breed
